How To Play Badugi
Badugi Triple Draw Poker
Badugi is a triple draw poker game where each
player receives four cards and the goal is to
hold four different cards of four different
suits. The lower the cards in your hand the
better it is. The best hand in Badugi is A-2-3-4
of all different suits.
Badugi starts out with the two
players to the left of the dealer posting the
small and big blind respectively. The small
blind is half the lower stake limit and the big
blind is equal to the lower stake limit. For
example, in a $1/$2 betting structure, the small
blind is $.50 and the big blind is $1.
Blinds are use in Badugi to
help force the action. The blinds are live bets
so players who posted the blinds are able to
check in addition to raising the bet, calling
and folding.
After the blinds have been posted each player
receives four cards. After each player has been
dealt their cards, the first of the four betting
rounds begins. In each betting round players
have three options; fold, check or bet.
After the round of betting has finished, players
that still remain in the hand can discard and
draw up to four new cards. This draw is followed
by a second round of betting.
When the second round of betting has finished,
players that still remain in the hand can
discard and draw up to four new cards. This draw
is followed by a third round of betting.
When the third round of betting has finished,
players that still remain in the hand can
discard and draw up to four new cards. This draw
is followed by the fourth and final round of
betting.
When the final round of
betting has been completed each player turns
over their cards and the player with the best
Badugi hand wins the pot.
